National Supercomputing Guangzhou center is located in the East Campus of Sun Yat-sen University, Panyu District, Guangzhou. It is a major scientific and technological innovation platform deployed by the state during the 12th Five Year Plan period. Its "Tianhe-2" platform is the only supercomputing system in the world which has won "six consecutive championships" of the world's top 500 supercomputers, which is a milestone in the development of supercomputing in China and rewrites the pattern of supercomputing development in the world. In June 2018, supercomputing center ranked the fifth in the global supercomputing Dominant Sites ranking, which was the only Chinese supercomputing center in the top ten. Its comprehensive strength has exceeded other supercomputing centers in China, Europe and Japan.
